Post-publication Changes

After a manuscript is published online, it becomes the version of record. TCSISR allows authors to make changes only in cases of genuine scientific error. This page explains the types of changes that are permitted and the process for requesting them.

Types of Post-publication Changes

Correction (Erratum)

A correction is issued when a significant error is identified in a published paper that affects the scientific content or conclusions. The error must be attributable to the authors and not to the publisher.

A correction notice is published as a separate item, linked to the original article, and clearly labelled as a correction. The original article is updated with a note pointing to the correction.

Retraction

A retraction is issued when a major error invalidates the conclusions of the paper, or when there is evidence of research misconduct (such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication).

Retractions are accompanied by a retraction notice explaining the reason. The original article remains online but is clearly marked as retracted.

Expression of Concern

An expression of concern is issued when there are credible concerns about a published paper that cannot yet be resolved. It alerts readers to the concern while an investigation is ongoing.

Process for Requesting a Change

  1. Contact the editorial office: Send an email to TCSISR@wepub.org with a detailed description of the error and the requested change.
  2. Evaluation: The editorial office, in consultation with the conference editors, evaluates the request. Not all requests will be approved.
  3. Decision: If approved, the editorial office will prepare a correction, retraction, or expression of concern notice.
  4. Publication: The notice is published online and linked to the original article. The original article may be updated with a note.

Important: Author-Prepared PDFs

Proceedings publications, including TCSISR, use author-prepared PDFs for all publication and production purposes. Therefore, authors should ensure that their manuscripts have been sufficiently checked before submission. Cosmetic changes (such as minor formatting or typographical errors that do not affect the scientific content) are generally not considered sufficient grounds for a post-publication correction.
